Unlike other rehab centers the clients of Passages Malibu are allowed freedom.

Passages Malibu caters to about 29 clients at one time housed in either shared or private rooms. The facility recommends a client commitment of 60 - days . The facility area of 10 acres has panoramic  views to the ocean, tennis court, gym, detox units and swimming pools with Jacuzzi. The complementary holistic services for kicking addictions include acupressure, massage, acupuncture, spiritual counseling , Tai – Chi and yoga.  The facility safely admits to a high success rate, individualized treatment, a recognized treatment facility, an aftercare program, luxury, all needs to be catered to, freedom to use computers and cell phones and a high number of high profile clients. 

There are a few controversies with the facility's approach mainly the rejection of scientific data, the costs of the facility and the freedom afforded.

Although the facility Passages Malibu has helped many clients with a success rate of 80% , there are disputes to this which only arise due to the treatment differences. There is a question of providing too much luxury which puts in danger the individuals understanding of the problem of his/her addiction. But the bottom line is that if one can afford the luxury and wants to do without the menial drudgery of  typical treatments than Passages Malibu  seems to be the right choice.
